Same Room, Different Babies

As I slowly and quietly turned the door handle down to go out of the room (to get my pump parts), I suddenly recalled doing the same when Evans was sleeping with me in the same room. Realised how things are different now and how time passes. My baby (Evans) is now a big boy and his words are very different, but still cute most times.

Now Eden is sleeping in the cot in the same room but very soon, the cot will be too small for him. Very soon, he will need a bigger space to toss and roll. Seeing other newborns or younger babies also made me realise Eden is no longer a newborn. One part of me really wishes him to grow up faster so that I have fewer things to pack and do... but another part of me reminisces his birth and how he was as a new baby.

I'm wide awake after my pumping session while Eden is stretching and tossing in his little cot. I better try to catch some sleep before the whole cycle starts.

DOTS

It has been a while since I last updated the blog. I was kind of busy with catching up with the Korean drama which almost everyone was so hyped up about, Yes it was Descendants of the Sun (DOTS). I saw many posts on Facebook and many were talking about it. I started off to want to see what the big deal was. And I am a convert too. :)

The 16-episode Korean drama caught my heart with its plot, its very charming actors, its songs and its pace. It was not a typical korean drama that usually portrayed some traditional family or office setting, about in-laws or families, This drama is nothing quite "korean" about it, except for the language, The Song-Song couple was the key attraction. They make really attractive on-screen couple and many netizens hope they are real-life couple! Song Joong-Ki and Song Hye-Kyo made really good chemistry and they easily convinced us about the love they have for each other in the drama.

And unlike the other kind of dramas, the pace was fast and spontaneous. How the plot developed and escalated with no "dull" moments. But of course, not all might feel that way. Like a colleague of mine, who did not feel moved at all about the scenes. It almost sounds like she is a heartless person, LOL!

The songs in the show were great and I had them on loop when I needed some "peace" and waking up in the office. Great soundtrack for me to keep my focus, :)

So yah, the past weeks, I was busy with this drama... rewatching the episodes which I have fast-forwarded and watched its epilogues too.

Great show, great cast, great songs. :)

Tim Ho Wan at Plaza Singapura

Passed by the newly opened Tim Ho Wan at Plaza Singapura. Wow, loooooooong queue!

It was almost as popular as the one in HK. No reservations, no take-aways. Not sure how the standard was though... ... Maybe we can give it a try some day... if we do not mind the wait.

The Passing of Huang Wenyong

Very shocked when hubby told me the very popular veteran local celeb Huang Wenyong passed away today.

Ever since I remembered there was TV, he has been the familiar face on screen in the lead roles.
The news came as sudden because the last I heard was he was recovering.

It was lymphoma cancer.... which I recently have heard about, from a colleague.... apparently it is a kind of blood cancer.

Unpredictable, really...

RIP

Ferrari Baby Car Seat

NAN was running a promotion in Mar that for every $300 you spent on NAN products, you got the chance to redeem the Ferrari baby car seat worth $199. Thanks to Mr Kok for sharing the news and we went to buy NAN milk powder for Evans since he is drinking NAN anyway.

Mr Kok has got the letter from NAN earlier but he waited for me to get mine so that we could go down to Tagore Lane together, to redeem the item.

Coincidentally, today is a quiet day in the office, amongst our lunch kakis, only Kok and me around so we went to Entrepreneur Centre at 50 Tagore Lane. We thought it would be a long process since this was a free thing. But it was rather "chop - chop".

Now Evans will have a new car seat!!! Hopefully it's a more comfortable one. Need to wait for hubby to pick it up from the office before we can assemble it.

I look like a santa carrying this big red sack into the office

Evans' new car seat.. to be assembled

There was one little episode... The moment we stepped into the shop, we heard people quarrelling. It just got louder and louder. Apparently this guy was trying to redeem the car seat but when he was asked to produce IC for verification, he couldn't and he made a big fuss. Not too sure what triggered the outburst but there were 3 other shopkeepers who ended up scolding that man. They scolded him for being vulgar, and they were extremely offended. So both sides just ranted at each other and the guy denied scolding vulgarities, it went on for a while until the lady shopkeeper shouted at him and told him to get out of the shop. The man threatened to call Nestle, the staff just chased him out and told him off.

When we left, we saw the man waiting outside making some call.

Sigh, it was a hot afternoon, I guess everyone was "heated" but if that man had used vulgarities, even if he was the customer, this behaviour should never be condoned. Anyway, just a small episode... ... Chill.

If You are Late for Lunch

I have this group of funny colleagues who always give funny ideas and crack lame yet sometimes hilarious jokes.

We recently (ok not that recent) started this practice to penalise those who turned up late for lunch. Take the photo of the "offender" and spread it via our WhatsApp group chat. LOL!

Mr Kok started this when he snapped a photo of me and Ms Ang once we stepped out of the lift lobby, we were not even the latest!!! So we made it to the "Hall of Shame" first. It was really funny when all of us started taking photo of one another. Some photos were even so poorly taken that the offender's face could not be recognised! Haha!

This practice, though is funny, it does help a little to deter people from making others wait for them habitually. When we said NOW means NOW, go out and take the lift down NOW.... last time when we said NOW, some of us would still drag a bit, send an email or 2, go to the toilet, etc... so now, NO MORE of such "nonsense"! HEHE!

the photo taking starts

offender kok

offender kok again

LOL, they surely looked like they are guilty of something!

ok, me this time

can u even see who?? it's bo!

ks, trying to push the blame to other people

defending himself

mr kok trying to duck!!!! haha!

the 3 of us are so ready to snap.... and ks is caught

kok again and again!

ah yeo

ah yeo again!

ermm, me

KOK again!!!!

And it appears that Kok is the top offender in the hall of shame. Haha! And to think he started this "penalty" just cos he bought a new iphone! I wonder how long this will last... ...

An Adventurous Night

I cannot ever imagine there is a COCKROACH in my walk–in and ON my clothes... and BIG & BROWN and STARING at me. I can vividly remember its eyes and roaming feelers, landing so comfortably on my clothes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EEEE!!! Before I could look at which clothes it was on, I ran out of the room and alerted my hubby.

BUT when he was in there, the roach vanished!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was the worst. I could not bear the thought of being in the same house with a ROACH. What if it flew? What if it crawled to baby’s room? What if it laid eggs in the walk in? What if….

GROSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I HATE THIS CREATURE! OK HATE may not be that appropriate, it’s more like FEARFUL. I tried ONCE to face it. With Baygone in one hand, and some other weapon in another, stood in front of the GROSS ROACH but ended up running away.

I don’t know what’s with me to be that scared of this little thing. Anyway, I was very disappointed that hubby could not find it and I just went to tuck Evans to sleep, feeling down and unsettled. Then minutes later, I could hear some hitting and banging outside the room. I WAS SUDDENLY HOPEFUL. There was more banging and hitting and flipping, I think. I was “enjoying” it because DAMN the STUPID ROACH! After that. hubby opened the baby room’s door and said cooly, “I killed it…” YAAAAAAYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So thankful and grateful for him lor! WE ARE SAVED! This prompted me to keep my Walk-in more tidy and neat. And YOU STUPID COCKROACH STAY AWAY FROM US!!!!!! @()$&@*$^@*($^@(&$^@&*#%!*%^^!@(!*&#$

Not just this cockroach adventure. Next chapter…. Evans, again, tossed and turned for a while before he actually fell asleep at 12 plus midnight like the night before. I thought ok, maybe he would sleep well throughout like the night before. But minutes after, when he tossed to one corner of the mattress, he started crying angrily, almost like something has bitten him or what. He tugged his PJ and he cried and cried and tears bursting. I got worried a while. Somehow the cockroach episode was still fresh in my mind so I was thinking was he bitten by some insect at the corner of the mattress? Did he hurt himself or what? Cos he was almost inconsolable until, I distracted him using Vicks Vapour, which he liked and called it “shii shii shii” which means “stinging” or 辣。I told him I would apply “shii shii shii”  on him. He quieted down and sat on the mattress waiting for me to apply it. So poor thing but he looked so cute waiting. I also fed him some water to calm him, wiped his tears then applied Vicks. Then he obediently laid on his tummy and went back to sleep.

Evans' favourite shii shii shii

I am still wondering what happened. It surely did not sound like a nightmare but I hope it was so that he could just get over it. Sigh.

My sleep was kind of interrupted too because after all these, I was too “excited” so was not able to fall back to sleep. Even when I fell asleep, I kept having weird dreams (since 2 days ago). Then I kept waking to pee… if not, the cough would irritate me. I could cough till tears flow… terrible feeling.

Longing for a good sleep.

A Good Cuppa Kopi O, Please!

My simple breakfast of Egg Mayo Sandwich and Kopi O

Ok that's my half eaten sandwich. It was a really simple breakfast this morning. Why would I want to blog about this .... it's because of the Kopi O.

I love Kopi O because of the well balanced aroma, bitterness and sweetness. And this Aunty at the drinks stall (at my office canteen) made the WORST Kopi O. Many times, it tastes like plain black water. I prefer to ask the Uncle to make it for me cos' his is more balanced. Lately, I have made it very clear to aunty that uncle can take my order instead. She wasn't happy. Everytime when uncle was brewing mine, she would just grumbled and nagged at the uncle. Though it was not all audible (and it's not as if it's important), I know that she is not pleased about me being "fussy". She would rattle or mumble "it's all the same..." How I wish I can knock some sense into her. If her Kopi O is really OK or rather THE SAME, why would I go through so much trouble to get to uncle to order one simple cuppa Kopi O?

I know it is only 50 cents but for 50 cents I can get better than her plain black water. Or I don't mind paying more for a good cuppa. Geez, I really need a good cuppa kopi-o to start my day right!
